On 24^th of February, 2016 Azerbaijani community in the United Arab Emirates, "Azerbaijan Airlines" CJSC representative, "SOCAR Trading" company representatives, "Al Bayan" official state newspaper and "Sky News Arabia" television representatives, as well as staff members of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United Arab Emirates participated at the event dedicated to the 24th anniversary of the Khojaly Genocide at "Intercontinental" hotel in Abu Dhabi.

After a minute of silence in tribute to the victims of the Khojaly Genocide Ambassador Dashgin Shikarov stressed the importance of Khojaly town, shared details of the massacre and its results from 25^th to 26^th of February 1992. Ambassador informed participants on the fascist ideas shared by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to British journalist Thomas de Waal, his deep hatred  and intolerance against Azerbaijanis, as well as Zori Balayan's horrible experiment on an 11 years old Azerbaijani girl who was captured during genocide.

Ambassador recalled that Khojaly genocide is widely covered by media inTurkeyandPakistan, as well asLondon,Paris,Moscowand other Western cities, and especially stressed that the first time political and legal assessment to this mass destruction was given by national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Ambassador spoke about the work done towards the recognition of the Khojaly genocide in the world by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation under the leadership ofAzerbaijan's first lady, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva.

Later Ambassador stressed the importance of "Justice for Khojaly" international awareness campaign initiated by the Foundation's Vice President Leyla Aliyeva and a result of the successful work of the campaign, especially in Europe and the US contributed to a wide range of facts about the tragedy, Khojaly genocide recognized by Pakistan, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Honduras, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic and Sudan, as well as by more than 10 states of the United States.

After Ambassador's speech participant were invited for watching of "Khojaly Genocide" documentary film by Heydar Aliyev Foundation and photo exhibition was organized. The commemoration ceremony was followed by tea and coffee table.
