High-level reciprocal visits

On July 8-10, 2003, a delegation led by the UAE Minister of Communications Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer paid an official visit to Baku.

On April 2-3, 2006, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Abulfaz Garayev, paid an official visit to the UAE.

On May 5-7, 2006, the Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ali Abbasov, paid an official visit to the UAE.

On May 2-3, 2007, the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ziya Mammadov, paid an official visit to the UAE.

On May 26, 2008, the Minister of Foreign Trade of the UAE, Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, paid a visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan to participate in the first meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic, trade and technical cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates in Baku.

On April 20-21, 2009, a delegation led by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy of the UAE, visited the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On May 26, 2009, a delegation led by Mohammed Daen Al Hamili, Minister of Energy of the UAE, visited Azerbaijan.

On December 21-22, 2009, in Abu Dhabi, the Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Shahin Mustafayev, visited the UAE to participate in the second meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates.

On June 1-3, 2010, the Minister of Energy of the UAE, Mohammed bin Dhaen Al Hamili, visited the Republic of Azerbaijan to participate in the 17th Caspian International Oil and Gas Conference held in Baku.

On January 17, 2011, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Natig Aliyev, visited the UAE to participate in the third meeting of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi.

On October 14-18, 2012, the Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ali Abbasov, visited the UAE to participate in the ITU Telecom World-2012 international exhibition and conference held in Dubai.

On October 21-24, 2012, the Minister of Industry and Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Natig Aliyev, visited the UAE to participate in the World Energy Forum.

On November 13-16, 2012, a delegation of leading UAE businessmen led by Mohamed Bin Abdul Aziz Al Shehhi, Deputy Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abdul Rahman Saif Al Qurari, Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Hamad Buamin, Director General, visited Azerbaijan.

On January 13-17, 2013, the Minister of Industry and Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Natig Aliyev, visited the UAE to participate in the World Future Energy Summit.

On January 19-22, 2014, a delegation led by Akim Badalov, Chairman of the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, visited the UAE. During the visit, the delegation participated in the official opening ceremony of the “Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week” and held bilateral meetings with the heads of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

On November 17-18, 2014, a delegation led by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy of the UAE, visited the Republic of Azerbaijan to participate in the fifth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates, which was held in Baku.

A delegation led by Akim Badalov, Chairman of the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ABEMDA) visited the United Arab Emirates from January 16-23, 2015. During the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation participated in the 5th session of the Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the official opening ceremony of Abu Dhabi Energy Week. At the same time, the delegation held bilateral meetings with the leadership of the UAE Ministry of Energy, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), the Masdar Institute and the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.

On April 19-20, 2017, the 6th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates was held in Dubai. Within the framework of the meeting, a meeting was held between the co-chairs of the commission - Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Shahin Mustafayev and Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates Sultan bin Saeed Al-Mansouri. It was noted at the meeting that mutual high-level official visits play an important role in expanding relations between our countries, and relations in agriculture, ICT, energy, trade, investment, education, etc. are continuing successfully. Sh. Mustafayev drew attention to the great potential for the development of cooperation by effectively using existing opportunities, and shared his views on the possibilities of expanding relations in various fields. Stressing that the first representative office of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry abroad was opened in Baku in 2012, Sh. Mustafayev noted the possibility of appointing a trade representative and opening a trading house in the UAE. Sultan bin Saeed Al-Mansouri, Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, Co-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Commission, stressed that special importance is attached to cooperation with Azerbaijan in his country, relations are developing successfully, and the visit of the Azerbaijani delegation to Dubai is an indicator of Azerbaijan's interest in expanding relations. The UAE side emphasized its support for the export of Azerbaijani products to this country, and stated that support will be provided to the trade representative to be appointed to the UAE and the opening of an Azerbaijani trading house in this country.The meeting also emphasized the importance of the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission in the development of relations between our countries, and noted that the necessary contractual and legal framework has been created between our countries. The UAE has invested $778.1 million in Azerbaijan, and $284.4 million from Azerbaijan to the UAE. 255 UAE companies have been registered in Azerbaijan. Currently, Baku-Dubai and Baku-Sharjah flights are operating, and the Abu Dhabi-Baku flight is also planned to be opened. It was noted that as a result of the simplification of the visa regime and the introduction of "ASAN Visa", the number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan from the UAE has increased 30 times in the last 2 years. Activation of the activities of the Azerbaijan-UAE Business Council and exchange of trade information can also be important in expanding relations.
